Small country, great resources: these are the qualities of Uruguay, a land located almost at the "end" of South America that conquers every traveller for its continuous growth and for its (surprising) excellent quality of life. A tour of Uruguay can only start from Montevideo, the capital nestled on the banks of Rio de la Plata which reflects the friendliness of its people, between a tango and a visit to the historic buildings of its Ciudad Vieja. The golden beaches of Punta del Este are a real cure-all, but the magic continues in Colonia del Sacramento, a city where time seems to stand still thanks to its mix of Spanish, Portuguese and post-colonial architecture. And if you want to disconnect from the urban jungle, just reach Cabo Polonio, a small fishing village that has remained far from modernity, surrounded by sand dunes and "disturbed" only by the sound of the waves of the sea.
